Root Canal Treatment
A root canal is a procedure to replace infected pulp in a root canal with an inert material. Your dentist will utilize files placed within the roots to help clean and shape the canals, removing the infected material.

Root Canal Procedure at Aspen Trails Dental The dentists at Aspen Trails Dental have completed thousands of root canal treatments. Root canals are like a longer filling appointment, and we have a four-step procedure for root canal treatments:

1. We clean out the inside of the tooth to remove all of the dead tissue inside.
2. We take x-rays throughout to be sure we’ve gotten to the “root of the cause."
3. We sterilize and fill the tooth with a fake nerve and seal up the canals.
4. We add a composite filling on top to finish it off.

What to Expect After a Root Canal Most of our patients feel great after a root canal but minor soreness is not unusual. Even after we have cleaned your tooth, there can be inflammation outside of your tooth. This can take a few days for your body to clear away and may lead to soreness, especially when biting. If your tooth is hurting for longer than a week after a root canal, come back in and we will reassess the tooth.
