What is an implant?
An implant is a titanium screw that gets placed in the jaw to replace a tooth. At Aspen Trails Dental, we do surgical-guided implants. This means we take a 3D x-ray of your jaw, a 3D scan of your teeth and mesh them together digitally. Once we do that, we know EXACTLY where to place your implant in the safest way possible.
How do you get an implant placed?
If you have a tooth taken out, you will be given options. You may leave the spaces as it is, or get a bridge, partial denture, flipper, or an implant. Once the area has healed, and the bone is ready, we will schedule your first-stage implant.
Aspen Trails Dental Implant Process
First Visit: Check
On your first visit, we will check the bone density and take an x-ray. If you are healed, we will take a digital impression, and we will go over the cost.
Second Visit: Implant Placement
On your second visit, we will go over the procedure with you, answer questions, and start you on an infection prevention protocol. First, we will give you a local anesthetic and wait for it to freeze fully. Once you are frozen, we will take you to the sterile room for the procedure. The process is quick and painless. A healing cap will be placed on top, and you will have a suture in place that will dissolve in 7-10 days. We will check the placement with an x-ray and then send you on your way to heal.
Third Visit: Check and Impression
The third visit will happen approximately three months after the original procedure. We will take a digital impression to create a crown for you. This quick appointment will save you from waiting in our office while your crown is created.
Fourth Visit: Crown Placement
We will remove the healing cap, sterilize the area and cement your crown in place on top of the implant. For this procedure, freezing isn’t always required unless you request it.
